Favorite Picture: I haven’t been home a single evening after work this week, so I haven’t gotten a good picture yet. But we have cardinals nesting in the honeysuckle bush on our fence! Rob snapped this cell phone picture the other day. I still have mixed feelings about where we live. I love our house itself, but miss the old neighborhood which was a bit more urban and had way more kids for our kids to go outside and play with (I often joke that we’ve moved to the suburbs). Little things like this make me love the “suburbs” a bit more.
“Wow mom! You’re really nailing this parenting thing!”
– James after I gave a 10 minute lecture with a mouth full of tooth paste.
Thanks kid. Just wish I hadn’t dribbled half of it on my shirt.
Receptionist at Doctors Appointment: So do you go to preschool?
Violet: No, I have a babysitter.
Receptionist: What do you and your babysitter like to do?
Violet: We mostly drink coffee and go to weight watchers.
Favorite Happy Meal: Okay. So I usually hate Happy Meals because so many of those toys inevitably end up in a land fill 5 minutes after the meal is finished… BUT my kids babysitter brought them to McDonald’s the other night and naturally without mean old mom there to steer them away from it, several (aheam, ALL) of my kids went with the Happy Meal. The girls are big on Beanie Boos these days so the Happy Meal toys were certainly a hit. Plus it brought me back to the my youth. Remember 1997 and begging your mom to take you to McDonald’s when the Teenie Beanies were available?
