Favorite Barbie Hack: My kids are always leaving naked Barbies around. I get it. It’s easier to take a doll’s clothes off than to put them back on. It still kind of drives me crazy to find a big stack of naked Barbies on the floor. Can’t you kids give that poor woman some decency?! For Christmas my mom gave Violet this car full of Barbies and it was definitely one of her favorites. That’s James, Mariyah, and Violet in Barbie form in case you can’t tell.
Well, right after she got them naturally she decided to take their clothes off and leave them on the floor. James was like “Um, if that’s going to be me, can you NOT leave me lying around in the buff.” I redressed the doll and we moved on with life. Well all week, the same thing has happened. Violet plays with them constantly, and constantly abandons them somewhere without their clothes on. I finally used nail polish to install permanent bathing suits. Problem solved.
Favorite Game: My sister gave James The Oregon Trail Card Game for Christmas and it was such a hit. It’s kind of treacherous though. We were halfway to Oregon and completely out of supply cards and some of our party drowned in the river and some of our party had cholera and some of our party kept consistently eating 200 pounds of food. One of the fun things about Oregon Trail is that it’s a cooperative game. The whole group is in a wagon together, and you want everyone to live. I’m not going to name any names, but some people in our family get pretty competitive about board/card games. It was nice to play a game where we were all working together.
Favorite Book: I think Violet is nearly completely dressed in hand me downs. Aside from buying a few matching things for her and Mariyah, I’ve never had to buy her anything to wear. Violet gets clothes from several friends children, and gets so excited every single time. A lot of the mornings when she puts something on she’ll ask “Who gave me this dress?” We got the book I Like Old Clothes for Christmas and it’s so perfect!
Adoption Talk Link Up Update: A few of you have asked if we’ll be doing another link up in 2017. I had originally thought no, my mind feels blank more often than not lately. But so many people have asked that I am considering it. If you have any topic ideas you want covered please leave them in the comments or send me an email nobohnsaboutit at gmail. I’m still not certain I have the energy for it, but if we have enough interest I’ll try to put a schedule together.
