Favorite Update: We are home sweet home from the hospital.
Thank you guys for all the love the last few days. It has meant so very much to me. I have appreciated every comment, email, and social media message. A lot of the questions that were asked were questions I don’t really know the answer to yet. How was this missed? Didn’t they test for that? Does that mean the CVS is gone? I was going to try and make a whole post about my current thoughts on all of that, but figured I should wait until after Violet’s follow up to see if her new doctor has better answers. The testing she had when she was 16 or 17 months old should have picked up on the malrotation, so not sure at this point what happened. She should hopefully not have CVS anymore, as this diagnoses would mean she was misdiagnosed the first time and perhaps never had CVS to begin with. I’m relieved it’s all over, but I feel like I’ve got a lot still swimming around in my head, and I’ll feel better once I get to the bottom of it.
The same time Violet was in the hospital, one of her little besties was in another hospital having extensive surgery to help her combat Stage-3 Neuroblastoma. This little friend is still in the hospital and will be for awhile. If you are the praying kind, feel free to send some her way.
(not) Favorite Story: We had back to school night for James last night. It felt like an eternity has happened between Mariyah’s back to school night last week and James’s this week. Anyway, James has the same science teacher this year as last year. Last year at back to school night he gave us all a note card and told us to ask him a question. As a joke, my friend said “Ask if he’s single!” the note cards were anonymous so without thinking I scribbled it down. Later I kind of wished I hadn’t. He seemed like a goofy, easy going teacher who wouldn’t care, but I still kind of wished I’d written something like “What’s your policy on late work?” But it was anonymous so I got over it.
Anyway, last night I’m back in science and Mr. Science Teacher hands around another set of note cards with instruction for parents to write down a question. The mother next to me asked me “What kind of question are we supposed to write?” and I responded “I don’t know, he never answered my question last year.” Which of course the teacher happened to overhear. Now I wouldn’t have thought that was a giveaway but apparently it was. “I think we found the writer of the note card!” he announced to the assistant teacher. “No way! She’s wearing a ring!” the assistant teacher responded.
Well if there was any question about who wrote that note card, I’m sure my beat red face gave me up. “It was just a joke!” I stammered and slumped down in my seat until science class was over. I am not looking forward to parent teacher conferences this year.
Favorite Plans: We are heading to Florida this weekend and I’m really looking forward to relaxing on the beach. I feel slightly guilty about taking so many sick days from work, and then turning around and taking a vacation. But it’s been scheduled for ages, so what can ya do? The doctor gave Violet the all clear to travel as long as we skip Disney (bumpy rides=no bueno 1 week post surgery). We may head to Harry Potter World with the older kids for a day, but will leave Violet with my mom if we do. This popped up on my Facebook memories yesterday…
When we hop in the car tonight I’m going to double check everyone’s feet before we pull out.
Hope you all have a fabulous Friday!
