Each month I like to document a regular old day in pictures. It’s funny, because these are my favorite posts to go back through. Ordinary, everyday life.
A little early morning snuggle. I usually sleep in on Sundays, but since it was Mariyah’s first soccer game of the season I decided to pull myself out of bed when Violet woke up. (She REFUSED to take that hat off the night before).
Rob made omelets for breakfast! Yum! Right as I snapped this one Violet was begging to eat ketchup and was none too happy when I said no, so excuse that expression.
Mariyah had a great first game! She even scored a goal. Last season she was the only girl on a co-ed team, and the coach kept making her “babysit” his son during games and practices. I was so angry that I switched her to a girls only league this season and it was definitely a good decision!
After the soccer game, the girls and I headed off to a birthday party. We got lost for a bit (somewhere along the way Street and Avenue were mixed up when writing down the address – oops!) Thankfully, after a bit of frustration and a little help from the good people of Uber, we made it to the party on time.
I totally dig this photo Mariyah took of me and Violet. She is my photography girl.
After the birthday party we decided to head to Union Square for a bit.
We stopped at The Strand, which is one of our favorite book stores. Rob actually worked there for a bit in college, and I admit I miss that employee discount!
A motto I hope my girls learn to live by:
We ran into a friend in the children’s section! It’s a small city after all.
After spending far longer than I anticipated reading books, we were ready for a little dinner.
Mariyah decided she wanted to try one of my old college favorites, Max Brenner! (aka CHOCOLATE by the Bald Man!)
There was a bit of a wait, but thankfully they now text you when your table is ready! So rather than milling around in the waiting receptacle, we were able to hang out in Union Square for a bit.
Dinner was delicious! If you ever head that way I would highly recommend the Really Cheesy Mushroom and Smoked Mozzarella Mac & Cheese. Mariyah and Violet ordered it to share, and I could hardly stop myself from stealing a bunch of bites!
They were so sweet there! Since we had balloons left over from the birthday party that morning, they thought it was someone’s birthday and brought us free dessert! I told them it wasn’t, but they let us keep it anyway.
The ever changing lights on top of The Empire State Building will never get old for me.
After dinner, we headed home and off to bed. Just another regular old day in pictures.
