It’s the first of the month! My first time in awhile that I’ve been timely with my average day in pictures post.
Early morning breakfast crew. Rob was working from home and I had the day off work (as I do most Mondays).
Brushing teeth – a vital part of our morning routine.
James wanted to take a picture of “his ladies” (Ha!) as we left for school that morning, and I’m bummed because I forgot to switch my camera back to auto for him. Violet and I are completely washed out, and Mariyah is so dark you can barely see her. #transracialfamilyphotoproblems
After the usual Monday morning restarts like running back for my keys, and then Mariyah’s lunch, and then James’s saxophone, we headed off to school. I drive the carpool on Mondays since it’s my day off, and I kind of love it. I feel like I learn so much about my kids and their friends by eavesdropping on their conversations. After drop off I headed to Target (aka my favorite place on Earth).
It ended up being an extra good day at Target. The Starbucks cash register wasn’t working, so “as a courtesy” they were handing out free coffees. Happy Monday to me (and Violet, who stole way more sips than is socially acceptable for me to admit).
Got home from Target and played with a mustache until nap time. Violet pretended to nap while I spent the hour searching for that one lost library book. I swear it doesn’t matter if we check out 2 books or twenty, there is always one we can’t find on library day.
After nap time we made a quick trip to the library to return what we could find (and pay the fines from the last time). Then we headed off to school to pick everyone back up.
Now at this point you’ll notice a gap in photos. I often get emails and comments from people about how sweet and well behaved my children always are on the blog. Let me use this opportunity to tell you the gap in photos is due to me spending the next hour or several ranting and raving and completing missing homework assignments with a child who got in trouble at school that day. I’ll leave out the rest of the gory details and resume right before bedtime when my kids orchestrated a recorder concert while they marched around the living room.
How oh how sweet Jesus did we end up with three recorders?
By bedtime I couldn’t even. So I let them read to each other while I browsed Zillow for real estate (my new favorite hobby). James and Mariyah fell asleep pretty quickly. But evidently that coffee Violet had stolen earlier in the day was still kicking. After a couple episodes of Fuller House, I peaked into her bedroom to see if she was asleep yet. Nope. She had taken the liberty of getting out of bed, turning the light back on, and making several sandwiches in her play kitchen. She had even left a few on James and Mariyah’s pillows just inches away from their sleeping faces. I wanted so badly to take a picture, but didn’t want to reward the bad behavior, so forced myself to send her back to bed with a straight face.
I’m pretty excited March is here. Although we have had a mild winter, I still can’t wait for it to be even warmer!
